Women in Islam: Honor and Rights

Dispelling myths and understanding the elevated status of women in true Islamic teachings.

A Revolution in Arabia

Pre-Islamic Arabia buried daughters alive and treated women as property. Islam shattered these customs. The Prophet (PBUH) said, "The best of you are those best to their women."

Spiritual Equality

The Quran (33:35) explicitly lists men and women side-by-side regarding spiritual rewards. A woman's soul is equal to a man's soul; Paradise is equally her home.

Economic Rights

1400 years before Western women could own property, Islam granted women the right to own, inherit, buy, and sell property. Her wealth is hers alone; she has no obligation to spend it on the household, which is the man's duty.

Great Figures

  • Khadija (RA): The first convert and a wealthy businesswoman who supported the Prophet.
  • Aisha (RA): A scholar who narrated over 2000 Hadith, teaching men the religion.
  • Fatima al-Fihri: Founder of the world's first university (Al-Qarawiyyin).
