Not a Science Textbook
The Quran is a book of signs, not science. However, when it touches upon natural phenomena, it is accurate accurately in ways that were impossible to know in the 7th century.
Examples
- Embryology: Surah Al-Mu’minun describes the fetus as a 'Alaqah' (leech-like clot/suspended substance), which accurately describes the early embryo's blood-drinking attachment to the uterus.
- Cosmology: The Quran mentions the universe was "smoke" (gas) and is strictly expanding ("We are its expanders" - 51:47), aligning with the Big Bang and cosmic expansion theory.
- Mountains: Described as "pegs" (Awtaad) that stabilize the earth; geology confirms mountains have deep roots preventing tectonic shaking.
