The Search for Truth
Even as a young man, Ibrahim (AS) questioned the idols his father carved. He looked at the stars, the moon, and the sun, realizing they strictly follow laws and set, concluding that the Creator of these must be greater and constant.
The Fire
When he destroyed his people's idols to show their powerlessness, the tyrant Nimrod threw him into a massive fire. Ibrahim's trust was absolute: "Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakil" (Allah is sufficient for us). Allah commanded the fire, "Be cool and safe for Ibrahim."
The Ultimate Sacrifice
In his old age, he was tested with the command to sacrifice his beloved son Ismail. Both father and son submitted. At the last moment, Allah replaced Ismail with a ram. This act defined the essence of Islam (Submission) and is commemorated every year at Eid al-Adha.
