Adab: The Beauty of Islamic Manners

Why character (Akhlaq) weighs heaviest on the scales of judgment.

Character is Religion

A man asked the Prophet (PBUH), "What is religion?" He replied, "Good character." Rituals without manners are hollow. The Prophet was sent to "perfect good character."

Everyday Adab

  • Eating: Eat with the right hand, start with Bismillah, do not critique food.
  • Speaking: Speak good or remain silent. Do not backbite or argue unnecessarily.
  • Greeting: Spread Salam (Peace) to those you know and those you don't.
  • Guests: Honoring the guest is a sign of faith.
